When you're not in London... things just don't seem quite so exciting.

Right now she is engaged in the oh so fun task of searching for a job. In this economic climate, I say it's better to be funemployed and just do crafts and nap all day... but hey, I'm a cat, I can do that.

Well howdy!
Now that I'm over my space cat-depression from being back home (though I do enjoy seeing Chris and my human's family) I am ready to get back into the blogosphere!

Mah human has been hogging her computer lately, now a nifty new HP netbook, and she has kept me from being able to blog. How rude!

Now though, especially since she will be graduating soon and busy all day working (we hope), I shall have free reign over the interwebs, and I am so excited!

So to start this off, I thought I would share a campus friend I have, Leo, with y'all.

He's an awesome cat who likes to hang out on campus and occasionally follow mah human around. It makes her day when she gets to pet him before class.

As you can see, he has been having fun... and he never runs out of scratching posts... or friends.

Well... that's it so far. Later, I'm gonna show some more pictures around campus, especially of my crazy human and her other friends who are graduating, as they have fun during "senior week."

Le computer still does not work... Once again I am blogging from Jenica's computer. This time though, mah human recoverd her sign-in informations for her internet, so she is not wasting her friends internet.

Other than the suckadge of not having a computer, things are going okay. Mah human is not really doing her homework.... because she tries to hand-write her essays, but then her hand gets tired... And the computer lab belonging to her abroad program is only open 9-7 m-th and 9-5 friday. Thus... not very productive this weekend....

But today she went to the book signing and met Cory Doctorow... the author of such awesome books as "Down and Out In The Magic Kingdom" and "someone comes to town someone leaves town" and his most recent "little brother." She bought herself another book of his to perk her up for not having a computer.

Other than that, she made a gingerbread house today. It's cute and very bright. And then she watched the 5th harry potter movie with her friends. So yes, other than doing tons of sudoku and all that stuff previously mentioned, she's been a slacker.
Tomorrow she must do more work!!

anywho. mah human and i are gonna go read some Doctorow and then go to bed... seeing as how it's almost 3am here. oopsies

My human's computer died. Like completely. I am blogging this from Jenica's computer. She is very nice.
So.... blogging is likely to come to a halt, seeing as how the pictures went with it. She is going to try to recover some of the information and pictures off it, but that might not happen until she is home. =/ So... oops. So sorry.

Other than that she is just going to be working (slowly) on all of her finals... hand writing them out until she can go into her program's office to use the computers when they are open. Also, tomorrow she is going to a book signing for Cory Doctorow (an editor on the blog she got that post on)

Anyways. i need to get off and give Jenica back her computer and stop using her computer.

So... funny story.....

My human used an automatic machine to buy her ticket into Versailles.... and instead of charging her 17 euro, it charged her 391.50..... to her credit card...
Thankfully, she got it all worked out, but for a while it was rather distressed. The picture is from when they were charging a refund....

We went to St. Pauls. You might remember pictures like this from the first week, but this time we went back to explore it. When we got there, there was a fire alarm going off and all the priest dudes were walking around outside in their huge black robes. It was cool.

As you can see, mah human has WAY too many finals to be doing.
She is leaving in exactly TWO WEEKS!!! and will be landing in Austin in two weeks and six hours. Her list of homework is quite long and she has been quite bad at sharing the computer. Fortunately though, she did get her Global Powers final done today! Now that means just three more final papers and two papers for her independent study.... plus catching up on her discussion questions she's not done... oopsies.

Anyways. She's been so busy she hasn't even uploaded her Paris pictures! Although this weekend was fun and busy. Friday she went ice skating at Somerset House and saturday she went to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. Today she just wrote her final all day, but went out for thai food for dinner.
I've just been napping and running around her room....
thankfully my carpal tunnel space paw syndrome seems to be clearing up.

Anyways. maybe soon she will have those pictures up so I can blog to my little heart's content.

Giant's Causeway!!! (part 1, Ireland part 2)

We went to the Giant's Causeway! It's a world heritage site up in northern Ireland and it is a collection of hexagonal stones/columns. It's done naturally from heating and cooling of volcanic stones and erosion, but the tale about giants is better. It says that there was a bridge across the water between Ireland and Scotland made out of cobblestone (in come the hexagonal rocks.) The Irish giant, MacCool, walked across and saw how huge the Scottish giants were, so he ran home and told his wife and was worried about how to defeat him (yeah they're always fighting I guess.) His giant wife had all the brains and decided to dress MacCool up like a baby and put him in a huge cradle. She also baked *huge* biscuits out of stones, and he set MacCool up like a giant (giant) baby. The Scottish giant then followed over the bridge to check out the Irish and he found MacCool as a baby. He was a little curious so he tried the biscuits, but found them so hard to eat that he was not strong enough! Then he was convinced that MacCool was a real baby and decided "snap! If their babies are this huge, the adults must be MASSIVE" and he ran away back to Scotland and broke the bridge, hence why Ireland and Scotland are no longer connected. Ta daa....

A Trip To Tower Hill!

This is the corner of the white tower... its almost a thousand years old!!
Tower Hill is in London and is the old post that was here for a long time (but not as long as the romans)

Some of the living quarters. one of them was built for anne boelyn I think... but now they are housing for the guards and beefeaters and such. Both the priest and doctor live in the left corner.

The clock on another one of the towers... in this building is where they house the crown jewels! they are behind tons of security but they are SO PRETTY and HUGE. Crowns and scepters and rings and more crowns and swords and just sparkily things!

In Brugge! (The real adventure)

Well these are pictures from our adventure in Brugge, Belgium. As you can see, it was a beautiful day! The weather here has started turning cool and we've even had snow/sleet already, so looking back on sunny days is interesting. Also, since we "fell back" two weeks or so before North America, we've been having the sun set before 5 pm for quite a while...

Happy Halloween!!

Hello!
Well this weekend was crazy! Not only was it halloween, which actually is celebrated here, but Mah human, her friend Caitlin, and I went to Ireland!! We visited mah human's friend Caroline Mulvenna who had spent a year abroad at Southwestern two years ago. She had a fantastic time, as did I. We flew into Belfast on Thursday night and we hung out until Sunday afternoon. We spent 2 nights in Belfast and then one night up in Port Stewart on the coast where Caroline grew up. Ireland is awesome!!! And it is SO beautiful! and the Giant's Causeway is awesome! Everyone must come to Ireland and Scotland.... plus their accents are so cooool.
Anyways. Seeing as how I am still behind on fall break pictures, and my human is behind on homework, we will just continue back with pictures from Brugge and keep moving forward.

First stop, the white cliffs of Dover! We took the ferry from Dover to Callais on the bus for the Belgium Beer Tour. The cliffs really are white and huge, but unfortunately mah human didn't get to take pics until on the ferry.... thus ruined with industrial shmuck.

It was windy, so I chose to stay within my backpack again.

The creepiest "inspector Gadget" ride EVER. This was at a carnival in Oostend, Belgium. Weird sea side town that seems to have hit it's peak about 20 years ago.

Back in time, AGAIN!!

So these are the pictures taken by our CAPA leader Joanna! Because of some strange issue with blogger... they uploaded in reverse order? So we will start with Scottland and go back to my second day in London....

Goodness this is getting too confusing. Maybe it's time I hired a blog writer for me...

This is the group at the end of a very rainy hike in the highlands. Jo tried to get them to do a cute jumping picture but well... it didn't work out. They were too close. As you might see, mah human has both feet on the ground! The guy in the air on the right was our wild and sexy Scotland tour guide, Martin. He was wild and sexy, and a fan of me (z). I decided not to get into the picture as it was wet and I was enjoying my slightly warmer spot in the backpack.

Alrighty. I'm back!
So obviously I have many pictures to upload!.... especially since I'm still stuck with Scotland pictures to upload!
It was a fabulous trip, even though I spent much of the time napping in my room en France. Belgium was grand and France was relaxing... but now we're back and my human has WAY TOO MUCH homework. Something like 6 papers over the next week and a half.... eek!

Mah human and I, as well as her friend Caitlin, got home safely from Belgium! There will be many stories and fun pictures to come later. Now she is in bed because tomorrow morning they get up to fly to Cucuron in France to meet up with her momma, daddy, granddad and his wife, Sharon.

Needless to say, the last two days were awesome! She took a bus from London to Dover to take the (HUGE) ferry to Callais, France to then continue driving to Belgium. They stayed the night in Oostend (or something) and went to the beer fest in another city I will spell later... then they spent the day in Brugges.
Good beer, good chocolate, and good weather.

Now bring on France for a week!

PART TWOOO!!!
These are coming out fast so I can be caught up before this coming weekend... FALL BREAK! Mah human has a week off from school surrounded by two weekends, thus travel, thus me in MANY pictures.
For fall break she is doing a two day beer tour (going to Beer Fest!) in Belgium and then will be spending 7 days in the south of France with the possibility of a side trip to Switzerland or Italy.
Good thing I fit in a backpack...

Anyways, back to Scotland. We've just got to Edinburgh...

The Fullers Brewery Tour

The brew tour, at last! This is when mah human went to Fuller's Brewery. I didn't go along, because I didn't want to come out smelling like hops and beer.... but here are some pictures! She went as part of her Business in Society class and learned all about supply and demand and how increased prices of cereal grains will increase the price of beer!

Second: RJ's birthday!! His birthday was actually September 15th, but my human forgot these were on her camera.

As you can see.... the girls of mah human's flat decided that a boob cake was in order. Seeing as how the British seem to be enamored with well endowed chests, they thought it could fall under "cultural learning" to get him such a cake... (his girlfriend made him a proper cake as well, no worries)

Here, our friend Ben (from U Mass) is lighting the candles (strategically placed) while RJ watches and Brent (from New York) watches approvingly.
All in all, I believe a good birthday was had by all... Especially by those daring enough to try the cake!!

phew! back from Scotland!

Well mah human and I arrived back to the flat last night at 11pm from the four day Scotland trip. Needless to say, she is a little behind and tired. She is not even caught up on her homework! While she tried her best, the train on the way back was over-booked and SUPER LOUD, thus she couldn't finish it all. I even had a hard time napping in my cozy spot in her backpack. Stupid crying babies and screaming pre-teens....
Anyways. She has TONS of pictures that she can't wait to share with you all! Not only does she have all of Scotland, but she has the week beforehand including a brewery tour at Fullers Brewery!
So, with any luck they will be up by the early evening for those of you on the continent of the Americas, but if they are not up today, just be patient. There will be a flood of pictures soon!

so... Scotland was amazing! So very pretty! Our tour guide, Martin, was quite a riot. H showed us the "wild and sexy" Scotland and after we counted 15 white horses we got the "deep Scottish love!" ....
Long story short, if anyone has the chance, Scotland is a place to see! (though honestly, the history of the fact that the Scottish landmass was once connected with that of Canadian North America makes sense to me, because some of the scenery or weather or just general feel is somewhat similar.

Well, my computer is still acting up badly and I am unable to upload pictures through web browsers... My next step will be to save the pictures onto a flash drive and do it through one of my flat-mate's computers. So please, be patient! I'm trying! I want to get them out really fast too because they are piling up! Zeke is too cute.

For an update, today we went to Kew Gardens. It was beautiful and a stunningly nice day! Got some of Zeke in nature. On the way home, I split off from the group and ran over to the British Museum for trip #1. I will be popping in and doing research for a set of papers for my independent study / World Civilizations class. Today I looked at the Assyrian and Egyptian remains, as well as some of the Elgin marbles. Then I got a 2 pound ticket to watch the old movie "The Fall of Rome". I only made it half way through, but it was interesting!

Other than that we've had two interesting things happen. First is that my roommate Jenica and I have "viral chest infections". She went to the doctor and he told her that she is almost to pneumonia.... I didn't go to the doctor but figure it's just likely that's what I have. But things seem to be getting better! Other than a cough that sounds like the plague, I seem to be turning upwards.
The second fun thing was that the washer on the floor above us was shaking too much that it broke the water pipe and it flooded not one, not two, not three, but FOUR floors! Unfortunately, none of us were in our flat that time of day and people were stuck outside our flat, looking under the door, seeing water splash and move towards the door. When they got into the room water was *pouring* out of the light fixture in the ceiling where? RIGHT on top of my laptop!!!! Thankfully the lid was closed and RJ, Robin's boyfriend, got in first and was smart enough to move it, dry it off, and turn it off. So yep, I am now using a computer that has survived a whole bowl of tomato soup, dropping off a top bunk bed, and a major flooding, none of these harmful acts caused by me!! If that's not a testament to Mac computers, I don't know what is....
Thankfully I don't think anything other than a few books in each of the rooms got ruined. My computer was the only piece of personal electronics to get wet, and well, it's a zombie computer that survives everything.

Well that's it for the excitement going on over here. The rest of the weekend seems to be my 4 papers (two 3-pagers for World Civ, one 5-ish for World Civ Independent Study, and one for business) and if I feel that I have enough time, a "sightseeing cruise" on the Thames.
Hopefully there will be lots of picture updates soon! So sorry for the delay!

Well, the internet is still taking an incredibly looooong time to try to even upload pictures... so mah human is going to wait until she uses the free internet in her classroom tomorrow for more pictures!
Recently it's been raaaiiinnny here. When mah human and I went to Stonehenge it was so windy and rainy! It made me wonder how the early settlers even survived.
Yesterday mah human went to a Southwestern alumni event where they all met at a pub (and got pints paid for!) and then went out to a GREAT Indian restaurant, which was also paid for by the generous hosts. I hear it was AMAZING... but since I can't fit into her small purse, I wasn't brought along.... sad news. Then walking back, mah human and her friend stopped into a Middle Eastern bakery along with her history teacher and his wife and bought some unknown sweets. One of them looked like a donut... but that got eaten before I could try to steal it.

Anywho, today is homework day so I'm napping all day.

Well, since you'll be reading all about my adventures, I thought I'd fill you in on some I've already had!
Last summer, my human and her boyfriend brought me to Port Aransas with them, and we get to go this weekend too!! They always say they'll catch me fishies... but I think that it is just so they can convince me not to drive...
I guess it's better if they drive after all...

Last time we stopped in Lockhart, Texas and had Dobbs hot wings. Since my human is so nuts about architecture, she made me take this picture. At least my jaunty little bow looks good.
